About

ABOUT CYPHER CULTURE

Cypher Culture was established to bridge the gap of street dance community representation in the arts sector.  We work to build a world where street dance cultures prosper and are celebrated, and the arts reflect the diverse communities they inhabit.

We support street dance communities and culture through:

  • employment & performance opportunities
  • workshops teaching street dance culture & history
  • street dance productions for community & public engagement
  • sector development via roundtables & symposiums
  • connecting grassroots street dance communities with the creative industries

OUR VALUES

HISTORY

Cypher Culture was incepted in 2013 by B-boy/Community leader Dennis “Nasa” Pennalligen at a breaking battle held in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Over time, Cypher Culture grew into a community-focused street dance initiative that fosters experiences that create spaces for social, cultural and community dances to be celebrated supporting events such as City Sessions, Nice Fest, Burn Circuit and Pyramid Jam.

As of 2023, Cypher Culture has formed into a not-for-profit cultural organisation aiming to support street dance and its diverse communities in so-called “Australia”.
